1969 Riley Elf Mark III £ 0

This Riley Elf was first registered, new, in Jersey in September 1969 – making it one of the last Series III vehicles, fitted with a 998 cc engine, rated at a claimed 38 bhp, with a claimed top speed of 77 mph. This vehicle has remained in continued local use, in the hands of its last long-term owner since 2008. It has been maintained as a regular working, driving car, with some restoration and cosmetic work being carried out by the last owner. The recorded mileage is believed to be true – supported by a previous owner’s handwritten notebook record of maintenance and repair work between 1971 and 1986 and some subsequent service stickers in the car from 1998.

Mechanically, the car has just received considerable attention with a full brake system rebuild, including new drums, wheel cylinders and hoses. New ball joints have been fitted together with new tyres all round and various hoses, bushes and service items have been renewed. The Elf now drives well, just as it should.

The bodywork is in very good condition, as is all the exterior brightwork. The white over blue paint finish looks excellent. The interior is complete and in very good condition – the leather seats showing just a little patination. New carpets have clearly been fitted at some point, as has an aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel.

With a relatively low mileage, this late-model Riley Elf is in excellent, well-cared for shape and ready to be used on a daily basis, should the new owner wish, or kept as a ‘Sunday best’ drive. The 4-digit Jersey registration is not included in the sale.
