Description

West of the Island is St Ouen’s bay with an impressive five miles (8km) of beautiful sand on the Atlantic coast, there's something for everyone here, day and night. Whether its a coffee with friends or dinner and drinks at one of the cafe/restaurants dotted along the coast, surfing and thrill-seekers of all kinds or simply sunbathing then this is the place for you.

The long stretch of beach offers a great opportunity for a stroll or jog along the sea and you’ll always find plenty of space to sit and relax without being disturbed. In the warmer months, it's a popular choice for beach barbeques and often offers spectacular sunsets on the horizon.

The beach is favoured by surfers and bodyboarders with that Atlantic swell and during the right conditions will see lots of kite surfers all which make fascinating watching.

Lifeguards monitor the beach at different points. Look out for the safety flags during the summer months and do take care when swimming as the currents and rip tides can get dangerous.

You will find there are plenty of walks around this area. The sand dunes set back from the beach create the perfect backdrop setting and if you reach the top of the dune paths you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of St. Ouen’s Bay.

There are a number of public toilets and free parking at strategic locations along the Five Mile Road.

Visitors can reach the beach via bus route 12a or 22 of the public bus service.
